Vaasan Sport tickets 2026-27: hockey at Vaasa Arena

Vaasan Sport: coastal hockey with a local following

Vaasa is a coastal city in western Finland with a bilingual character, and Vaasan Sport, often shortened to Sport, are its pride. The club has not yet won a Finnish championship, so the matchday mood is more about loyalty than silverware.

You will see the short name Sport in schedules and listings, which can confuse visitors looking for Vaasan Sport. Both mean the same team.

The bilingual character of the city is visible on tickets, signs and announcements, which is helpful for international visitors.

Vaasan Sport at Vaasa Arena: how the building works

Sport play at Vaasa Arena, listed with a capacity of 5,185. It is a mid-sized hall that suits Liiga well: enough room for a loud crowd without losing the intimate feel.

The schedule opens with a home game against Jokerit on 1 September 2026, the Helsinki club's comeback season, which is a special fixture to start with. Sport have 32 home games in total.

Sport supporters and Vaasa matchday life

Sport supporters are a close community, and the language of the stands mixes Finnish and Swedish in a way you will only find on this coast. The tone is friendly, the singing is steady and the home end rarely quietens.

Vaasa has a pleasant waterfront and a compact centre, so a pre-game meal is easy to arrange. In the colder months the coastal wind can be sharp, so dress for it and give yourself a few extra minutes at the entrance.

Which Vaasan Sport home games to target

Kärpät of Oulu, a northern heavyweight with eight titles, play in Vaasa on 26 September 2026 and 19 December 2026. The December date is a good pre-Christmas treat.

Lukko of Rauma, another west-coast side, come on 26 December 2026 and 9 January 2027, which suits anyone travelling through the Christmas holidays.

Buying tickets for Vaasan Sport

Begin with the club's official box office and check which games are in high demand. The Jokerit opener may fill quickly.

• Weekday games are typically easier.
• Remember to search for Vaasan Sport, not just Sport, in resale listings.

From abroad, digital tickets keep it simple. Our email alert follows the home calendar so you can plan around dates, not guesses.

Keep the league format in view. The 2026-27 season is transitional: the top four teams reach the quarter-finals directly, places five to twelve play a wild-card round and the bottom three move to a new B-Liiga. Sport have the chance to fight for the wild-card places, so the later home dates against Kärpät and Lukko carry weight.

Visitors from abroad can reach Vaasa by air or rail in general terms, with connections from Helsinki. Check the final time of your return before buying a late game, and consider staying overnight so you can enjoy the waterfront at a relaxed pace.

Whichever game you pick, buy through the club's official box office and read the date, time and block twice before paying. Kick-off times can change for broadcast reasons, so leave some flexibility in your travel plans.
