NHL Schedule 2027-28: Nothing Announced Yet, What to Expect

The NHL schedule 2027-28 has not been announced. No game dates, no Winter Classic, no All-Star event and no Global Series are confirmed. This page separates what is known, such as the World Cup of Hockey in February 2028, from what is still open, and explains when real dates usually arrive and how to be first to hear.

NHL schedule 2027-28: the honest status today

Let us be direct. As of today, there is no NHL schedule 2027-28. The league has not published game dates, opening night, outdoor games, international games or the All-Star event for that season. Any website that shows specific 2027-28 fixtures is guessing, and we do not guess.

Why a schedule page for something not announced

Many readers are already planning a 2027-28 trip, for example to see a new arena or to combine an NHL game with the World Cup of Hockey. A clear picture of what is known and what is not helps you plan flights and hotels without taking a wrong step.

When the NHL schedule 2027-28 usually comes out

The NHL typically releases its full regular-season schedule in the summer, usually around July, a few months before the season starts. The 2026-27 schedule followed this pattern and was published in summer 2026. We therefore expect the 2027-28 version to follow a similar timetable, but that is an expectation, not an announcement.

How the NHL schedule 2027-28 release works

The league publishes the entire calendar at once: every team, every home date, every opponent. Special events such as outdoor games and international games are often confirmed before the full schedule, sometimes months earlier, so you may see headline events appear first.

Ticket on-sales after the schedule release

Ticket sales for individual teams usually follow the schedule release, and each club sets its own timing through the official box office. We will not publish an on-sale date until it is confirmed.

What we know around the NHL schedule 2027-28

Although the schedule is open, a few facts about the 2027-28 season and the period around it are known.

Calgary and Scotia Place in the NHL schedule

Calgary is expected to open its new arena, Scotia Place, for the 2027-28 season. It is under construction, and the opening date is not announced. If the Flames move there, the team would leave Scotiabank Saddledome, their home in the 2026-27 season.

World Cup of Hockey, February 2028

The World Cup of Hockey is planned for February 2028 with eight teams. Games are scheduled in Calgary at Scotia Place, in Edmonton at Rogers Place and in Prague at O2 Arena. The league and its players' association have agreed that NHL players will take part, and the event is likely to fall in the middle of the NHL season, although the effect on the 2027-28 calendar has not been announced.

The 84-game format and NHL schedule dates

The 2026-27 season is the first with 84 games per team. Whether the 2027-28 season keeps that format is not something we can confirm today, and we will not assume it until the league says so.

NHL schedule 2027-28: what you can plan now

Even without dates, there is useful preparation to do. These steps cost nothing and make decisions easier once the calendar appears.

Pick cities and arenas before NHL dates arrive

Decide which cities and which arenas interest you most. Our NHL teams page lists every club with its arena, so you can build a short list now and match it with real dates later.

Keep your passport and entry paperwork ready

A trip to Canada or the United States requires valid travel documents and, for many nationalities, an electronic entry authorisation. Checking validity early removes stress later.

Stay flexible with trips around the World Cup

If you want to combine hockey with the World Cup of Hockey in February 2028, wait for official dates before booking non-refundable travel. A flexible fare or a cancellable hotel is worth the small extra effort.

Where to watch for NHL schedule 2027-28 news

News tends to arrive in three waves. First come the major event announcements, then the full schedule and then the ticket on-sales. The 2027-28 season is a bit more complicated than usual because of the World Cup in February 2028 and the potential opening of Scotia Place, so we may see a slightly different order.

NHL schedule 2027-28 games in Europe

There are no confirmed NHL games in Europe for 2027-28. The 2026-27 Global Series stops in Helsinki and Düsseldorf are the latest confirmed European NHL games. If the league announces new games in Europe for the following season, we will publish them as soon as they are confirmed.

What to do before the NHL schedule appears

For this winter, there is plenty of confirmed hockey. Visit the 2026-27 schedule page to see the key dates, or the NHL hub for the season overview. If you are in Europe, the IIHF World Championship 2027 in Germany and the NHL games in Helsinki and Düsseldorf are the nearest big events.

NHL schedule 2027-28: pitfalls to avoid

When information is missing, rumours fill the gap. Here are the habits that protect your trip and your budget while you wait.

Beware of fake NHL schedule 2027-28 tables

Tables showing "2027-28 fixtures" sometimes circulate before any announcement. If the league has not published a schedule, these are estimates or inventions. Always check that the source is the official box office or the league itself.

Do not book travel before NHL dates are out

A flight booked around an assumed date can become useless if the game lands on another night. Wait for the publication, then buy tickets before transport. If you must hold a period, choose flexible conditions.

Think in scenarios for your NHL tickets 2027-28

Prepare a short list of cities rather than a single game, and note which weekdays suit your work and family calendar best. When the calendar appears, you can compare several evenings and choose the best mix of opponent, weekday and travel cost.

Keep an eye on the dates in our NHL schedule 2027-28 alert
